I'm trying to get my pro card in physique right now. I'm currently qualified for nationals, but I hear that I might be too big. What exactly are they looking for when awarding pro cards to MP competitors?

Thats a GREAT question! Sadly, I dont know if even the judges know how to answer it haha. This isn't my speciality, but I have been coaching a good number of MP guys on their contest diets. The best you can do is bring to the stage what your vision is for the division and don't let other people make you compromise what you think is pleasing. I can tell you some things you don't want. You dont want to look overly vascular and you don't want to look "drugged". You want to bring in a clean, natural look, even if you aren't natural. I think good hair and a pretty face are a big part of what make a champian for MP. Thats not to say you don't have to work hard. The top guys are in great shape and have physiques that are outstanding. The word on the street is that they are going to look for bigger builds next year. Depending on how big you are, you may fit right in. Even if you have some decent muscle on you, a lot of it is going to come down to how you hold it. If you have the right proportions, you may be able to pull it off. Another aspect is going to come down to who you stand by. At the lower, local level, you may look too big standing in a class of very small guys, but as you climb the ranks, being bigger will stand out less. It sounds like you've aready got the local level out of the way, so move on to a Jr level show and see how you do. Get feedback from the judges and apply what you think will work for you. The only way you'll know, is to do it! Best of luck on your journey bro, and feel free to stop back in and ask questions along the way. Thanks for reading.
