Training for stregth is not my forte, My goal is to LOOK like I lift a lot of weight ;) That being said, strength is somewhat of a product of the game, and I know what drugs have worked best for increasing power. I'd say you have a good program and the right mind set, building up the gear as you get closer. As long as you don't have to worry about making a weight class, drol is going to be an excellent option. If you have any experience with it, you'll know to be careful with it. It's the only drug that has brought my liver enzymes into a dangerous range and that was only at 100mg for about 4-5 wks. 8 wks of total use might be a little long. I wouldn't go past 6. I would be sure to run some milk thistle with it, as well as for at least a month following your meet, as you clean out. 1000mg ED. And if you have had experience with drol, you'll also know that using it can take a certain amount of restraint. The strength it gives can be down right freakish. I have seen a correlation between drol and pec tears. I always tell bodybuilders, just because you can lift something, doean't mean you should. At your age and experience, I'm sure you have the retaint and control over your ego to work smart. Its a fine line.
Deca is probably a great idea for a 50 yr old. Ideally, I would have strarted it at the begining of the cycle and ran it the whole way through. It can do wonders for your joints, but once again, be aware that sometimes gear can mask existing issues. If you have tendonitis and you find that after years of pain, it seems to be clearing up, 5 wks into the cycle, chances are, you still have tendonitis lol. Train accordingly. But yes, deca can be great for this as well as producing a decent amount of strength. Tren may be a better option for strength alone, but it might be worth the mild trade off, in favor of improving your ability to work hard and stay pain free. Make sure to run that deca all the way in.
I have one more thought, and this is not very conservative, so keep that in mind. TNE, oil based test suspention. TNE might be my personal favorite form of test. The effect is similar to water based test susp but without the pain. It takes a little longer to kick in, so I inject it about 2-3 hours before training. I experience good aggression and improved strength in the gym. Keep in mind that adding it on top of your cyp is going to increase your overall mg's of test per wk. Some older guys start having prostate issues when they go too high. If you are ok with it, 1cc ED for the last 10 days to 2 wks would give you a very quick spike.
If I were you, I'd also run a low dose of AI to control estrogen and possibly caber for the deca, if that causes any issues wiuth your sex drive.
