Plenty of 45 year olds are getting ripped to the bone, my friend! So don't let that stop you. The gear is going to help, but there has to be something about your diet that isn't adding up, if you aren't able to get ripped. Keep in mind, that if you want to get ripped, you have to make that a priority. You can get lean and gain muscle at the same time, but you are going to have a hard time getting to lower single digit body fat and still growing. So if you want to get ripped, make that a prioroty.
As for gear, deca probably isn't going to be ideal. Your test and winstrol or test and var would be good. Also be sure to control estrogen. And yes, clen will help your case. Give yourself time to get in shape. Keep the food as high as you can while still losing fat, eating super clean and if God wills it, you might be able to gain some muscle in the progess.
You might want to explore your cardio as well. Different types of cardio work better for different body types. I find that most people do well with slow steady state, but it is worth playing with, if you are having a struggle.
