This is interesting. I've never heard of it happening from gear, but that doesn't mean it isn't related. Still, first thing I might look at is your diet and see if there is anything different that might be causing this. Then from there, possibly go in for some lab work if it seems to be an on going problem. Once you see whats happening with your blood, this might turn a light bulb on. Another thought is body fat. I've noticed that when I'm very lean, I have less padding/protection. I tend to bang my legs and shoulders on things a lot more. Not only does it cause a lot more pain without as much fat for protection, I also tend to get more scrapes and bruises.
