    Muscle Memory?
    on: 2015-05-13 22:55:38
I was born with a medical defect that finally caught up to me in my late 20’s which means now I will need 2 or 3 major surgeries to correct. As an avid lifter I’ve gained ample amount of muscle and strength, I’ve also cycled about three times. The surgery will keep me from lifting for 6 months, how much muscle do you think I’ll lose and should I jump right back into gears to kick start my muscles or wait a few months afterwards? Will muscle memory save me or should I completely start from square one? Thank you.

First off, I would focus on not getting fat while taking time off training. If you can do cardio, do it. Once you are back at it, your muscle will come back fast. Look at Victor, and what he went through when he went to jail for 6 months. He was SMALL when he got out, but it came back fast.

Then when you get started back up, see how you feel. Give yourself a month or so naturally and then feel it out. I'd just have my gear on hand and then start when I feel strong again and ready.
