i think they both have their place in my diet in bulking or cutting. carbs are more important for raising insulin and moving nutrients to the muscle. if i had to pick one of the other, it would be carbs, but when bulking, i can raise my calories dramatically with the addition of fat...far more than i can with carbs alone. for me, the downfall of fats is that i find them very filling, which sometimes makes it hard to get my next meal in on time. because of this, many times i try to use "lighter" fats, like mac oil, instead of something like a nut butter, which tends to fill me for longer periods. as long as you can hit your number on carbs, i would try to slowly keep increasing your fats and see where your threshold is. i say slowly because too much fat, too quick can effect bowel movements. so take your time, adding 50g a day every wk or so. see how it effects your digestion, see how it effects your ability to eat the rest of your food. and see how your physigue responds. i have no problem combining my carbs and fats in the same meals. the only times i dont are first shake in the morning and in a post workout shake because the fat will slow the digestion of the whey. i see no problem with a 200 lb BB consuming 250g fat per day.
make sure you get your blood work done every few months to ensure that everything is working properly
